The Animal Facility at Rockefeller University is used primarily in cancer research. The six story Animal Facility has the first and sixth floors recessed to reduce the bulk and scale of the building. Linear windows follow the interior corridor along the perimeter of 3 sides of the structure.
All personnel enter the facility at the first floor level through an automatic key-card lock which both opens the main door and records who enters. Lockers and shower facilities on the main floor are provided for decontamination.
Two cooling towers and a variety of mechanical and heating equipment (including the emergency generator) are located in the penthouse.
