Oil Spill Update

As Walton County beaches witnessed their heaviest showing of tar balls to date, Okaloosa officials are gearing up for a second strong wave of weathered oil to hit shores Monday.

After Okaloosa saw its heaviest impacts from the oil crisis Wednesday, the oil shifted course and relented. The tar balls then descended farther east, with hundreds of small tar balls washing up Saturday afternoon along several beaches in South Walton.
